Safety on Church Street

Avoid being fined when driving & parking in school zones.

Please note:

  • Advise your daughters NOT to cross Church St except at crossing in front of Canterbury PS.
  • If picking up students please observe all signs, park & walk if necessary to pick up.
  • Students should wait inside the front gate for buses to avoid crowds on the footpath.
  • Stay on the footpath, never walk in the gutter at the bus stop.
  • Use the Princess St and Minter St exits if you can.
  • When picking up in Church St:
  • Observe the signs on Church St and do not park in the bus zones and do not double park.
  • It is extremely dangerous to walk across the road and get in a car which is double parked - PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DAUGHTER TO DO THIS.

Workshop to Help Learner Drivers Become Safe Drivers

Please be advised that Canterbury Bankstown Council will hold a “Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers” workshop for parents and supervisors of learner drivers on Wednesday 19 June 2019 (6.30 pm to 8.00 pm) at the Bankstown Civic Tower.

 

The free workshop will provide practical advice to parents and carers about the following:

  • The new laws for L and P licence holders
  • The benefits of supervised on-road driving experience.
  • How to plan on-road driving sessions and supervise Learner drivers.
  • How to deal with difficulties that may arise during driving practice.
  • The importance of giving the learner constructive feedback.

Bookings are Essential (please see attached flyer for further details).  This workshop is recommended for year 12 students and their parents/carers, we would appreciate it very much if you could communicate the details regarding this workshop to year 11 and 12 students and parents/carers in your next school newsletter or by email.

The RMS funded workshop is run by the Road Safety Officers for Canterbury Bankstown Council.

CGHS Keep Cups Available Now!

News from the P&C

The Annual General Meeting was held on May 15th.  Principal Sue Holden formally thanked outgoing members of the P&C executive for their hard work and contributions over the past 12 months. She made particular mention of ex-President "tower of strength" Heather Veitch who has served 2 terms in the President's chair and who was Vice-President for several years prior.

 

The P&C was thanked for their generosity in donations made to progress improvements in the school including recently installed technology, the paviliion to be name din memory of Gayle Gibson, and the upcoming COLA project in the Dome area adjacent to MPC. 

 

Meetings: 4th Wednesday of the month during term Cantabrian Hall, entry via Church Street.

REMINDERS for families

Contact Details: Please ensure that if your address or phone number has been changed the school administration is informed. A Change of Contact Details Form can be collected from Office A.

 

Excursions: The school is more than happy for students to pay overnight excursions off across the year as long as a $50 deposit is paid prior to departure. One day excursions must be paid in full before departure.

 

Newsletter by email:  The newsletter comes out each month and issue dates are on the calendar on the website. Links to the newsletter are on the website, and are sent out via Twitter and Schoolstream. Families can subscribe to have the newsletter delivered directly to their email inbox, the link to do this has been published on Twitter and is in the newsletter. If you wish to have a hard copy your daughter must collect this from Office A. Limited numbers are available. Please note our current newsletter format is designed for online reading, on web, in email or mobile devices. A PDF hard copy version is available however please be aware links and galleries included in the online version are limited in the hard copy.
