-School of Wonder
The Foundation children will no longer have Wednesdays as their rest days. From now on they will attend school from Monday to Friday.
The School of Wonder students were excited to participate in their first hockey clinic this week. The students will be travelling to the Shepparton Sports City hockey field each Thursday until the end of term to participate in the clinic, which is run by accredited Sporting School coaches. Due to the wet weather on Thursday this week, the clinic was held at Major League Indoor Sports in Shepparton. The children were divided into two groups. They had a 45-minute hockey session each and also participated in a learning task - this week it was bookmaking. During bookmaking the children have been focusing on characters and how an author portrays a character.
Italian
Children in the School of Wonder celebrated il Carnevale this week by making masks, learning about the traditional characters of the annual Venetian celebration and listening to a filastrocca (rhyme) about these characters. They watched a video clip of il Carnevale, one of the biggest celebrations in Italy, and were able to try on beautiful masks from Venice. This is what they thought of the masks:
"They were very pretty." - Hannah "They're from another world." - Gurekam
"They're fancy." - Zander "They're funny." - Lucas
The children were very excited to then decorate their own masks and they all did a wonderful job.
