'He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!”, which means “Be opened!”.'

Mark 7:31-37

Jesus Heals a Deaf and Mute Man

Scripture for this weekend allowed us to reflect upon one of the miracles of Jesus Christ. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak. “Ephphatha!”, which means “Be opened!” invites us to be open to the Word and to the mission of Christ. This biblical text gives us hope to the possibilities and belief of Christ's work even in these challenging times as we witness the many events occurring, not only in our country but around the world.

I invite you to take the time and be open to the possibility to help others during these times. Help those in your families and the wider community by doing the simple things.

First Eucharist Candidates 2021

Due to the current lockdown, ALL First Eucharist events have been postponed at this point in time. New dates will be advertised in due course, once restrictions have eased.

We encourage families to keep doing the weekly lessons from the First Eucharist Program, guiding our candidates along their faith journey.

The Plenary Council

Have you had an opportunity to reflect on the Plenary Council Agenda? https://plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au/

There are 16 questions arranged under 6 broad themes. The questions are framed on the responses gathered in the Listening and Dialogue phase and are intentionally open-ended in order to enable a variety of areas of concern and interest to be raised, through dialogue, discussion, prayer and discernment. This will be the work of the Plenary Council over the First Assembly in October and the Second Assembly in July 2022.

The guiding principle of this 5th Plenary Council is best captured by Pope Francis in his Encyclical Evangelii Gaudium,

I dream of a “missionary option”, that is, a missionary impulse capable of transforming everything, so that the Church’s customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channelled for the evangelisation of today’s world rather than for her self-preservation.’ (EG 27)

Please continue to pray for all who will be involved in the Plenary Council, its Members and all the Support Staff working behind the scenes.

Grow in gratitude and empathy.
