From the Principal

Dear St Therese's Families,

I hope all the dads and significant male role models had a wonderful Father's Day last Sunday. I had the pleasure of being invited to the Junior Team's Father's Day virtual liturgy held last Friday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many children online and some with their dads in the background.

Thanks to Monica who shared her Father's Day photos.

We only have 2 weeks till the end of the Term. The last day of Term 3 is Friday September 17.

  • This week we are celebrating R U OK day and we encourage all children to take a break from the screen and have a go at the activities their teachers will send them through their learning platforms such as SeeSaw or Google Classroom. Traditionally, R U OK day is a national day on September 9 to raise awareness of mental health. Now more than ever it is so important to talk about mental health and to seek help if you or someone you know is struggling.
  • Friday, September 17 is Footy Fun Day. Teachers will send out a communication to parents with activities that can be enjoyed from home.

We understand everyone is exhausted with remote learning. These opportunities are designed to take the pressure off. So if your family is in need of some time away from remote learning these days are great for that. The activities for these days are optional.

I am pleased to say that the building project is going along really well. In fact, we have been able to move ahead and get ready to start the renovation of the classrooms a little earlier than expected.

For the Health and Safety of everyone, I ask that any family dropping or picking up their children for onsite supervision until the end of Term 3 will need to use the Mitchell Court gate. This will ensure that our students are not trying to walk into the school while tradies are driving their trucks in and out.

In Term 4 we will have our front access back and be able to use the pedestrian gate once more. The office will also be relocated back to its original spot. It will be exciting to see the new foyer and admin section of the school!

I hope you all have a great week. I leave you with this prayer from the Junior School Liturgy last Friday for Father's Day.

What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family in need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

Yours sincerely,

Michelle Bruitzman
