School Council President

From the President

I made you a video! https://youtu.be/B8xgl_e23mg

I’d like to start off with a huge thank you to teachers and staff for all their work in remote learning.  On behalf of all the parents and carers, we greatly appreciate what you do for our children every day.

Uniform shop – We will have an onsite shop again when covid restrictions allow.  Thanks to everyone who responded to the survey.   Your feedback helped us choose the right location and opening hours.

Community connections – Our lovely class reps had planned some activities for this term, which have sadly gone out the window.  But keep an eye out in term 4 – pending covid restrictions.  The team are planning on doing a colour run in term 4 – being organised by Carley Thomas (thanks Carley!), which is sure to be a lot of messy fun.

Conversations – We’re looking for someone to help put on a morning tea to be welcoming and inclusive of members of our school community with English as a second language.  Would you like to coordinate this morning tea?  Or do you know someone who doesn’t read the newsletter, but might be interested?  This would be a great role for someone who is fluent in both English and Mandarin.  Please drop me an email if you might be able to help.

Connecting - Do you have any other ideas about how we can connect better as a community during lockdowns?

Enrolments – Do you know any families that still need to enrol ?  We still have spaces available in Foundation.

School council – We’re starting to turn our attention to hitting the ground running in 2022.  An important part of the functioning of school council is our subcommittees.  Right now we’re reviewing the functions of our subcommittees, and here is the current list:

  • Buildings and Grounds
  • Community Engagement
  • Education
  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Safety and Wellbeing

Each of these subcommittees is chaired by a member of school council, and then the subcommittee is made up of parents and staff.  Being involved in a subcommittee is a great way to contribute to the life of the school, and it’s important that we get a mix of skills and perspectives on these.  So get chatting with some friends and I’ll let you know how to get involved.

Vacancies in 2022 on school council - There are several parents on school council this year with kids in year 6, who will be finishing at BPPS.  So we’re looking for some wonderful people to come on board and fill those important roles.

Hiring maintenance person.  As advertised, we’re hiring a maintenance person with interviews scheduled for next week.  We had a great bunch of applications of very qualified people, and hopefully we’ll be able to introduce the successful candidate next newsletter
