Fantastic French

Bonjour tout le monde!

Our French poetry task is nearing completion and the final due date is in the second last week of Term 3, on Friday September 10.

All the poems are now posted on Seesaw ( F-2) and Showbie (3-6).

Students are working towards a final one take video of their recitation and have been encouraged to add actions, expression and props, if possible.

They have been receiving feedback on their pronunciation, memorization and video-takes along the way as they submit their work in progress.

Some students have taken to this task like "ducks take to water" and have produced quick, competent and very pleasing results. Here are a few special mentions:

Eveline  (4JT) produced an outstanding video very early in the piece. Her video was a cinematic, highly creative and entertaining enterprise. Magnifique Eveline!

Hamish  (5ST) completed a polished and confident performance with just the right amount of dramatic attitude . Bravo Hamish!

Lucas  (FKJ) posted a wonderful effort demonstrating that it is never too early to start learning another language. Fantastique Lucas!

Hudson  (1ET) uploaded a delightful video with clever and creative use of props and French costume. Bravo Hudson!

Due to the extended Lock-down in 2021, the French teachers will assess students' posted videos at the end of week 9, using the rubric on Seesaw and Showbie and set criteria on pronunciation, memorization and presentation. The top students from each class will then be assessed by the Specialist Team at a Team's meeting to decide on the Level winner. Level winners and place-getters will receive CL@S and French awards and book prizes. We expect to announce the winners and place-getters early in Term 4.

We would like to thank all the parents who have been working "back stage" for this video event, your support and interest is greatly appreciated. Merci beaucoup!

A la prochaine,

Madame Higgins and Madame Tsiandikos-Huf
