Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your support during this constantly changing time. With Armidale, Tamworth and now Dubbo going into lockdown and schools initiating remote learning, there has been so much change in such a short time. St Joseph’s Wee Waa staff have met and have begun planning for remote learning if we ever need to start.

Our school is still operating on ‘Level 2 Restrictions’. More information regarding this can be found here.

Staffing Changes

Thank you for supporting our school during our staffing transition. Any changes to staffing during an academic year can be difficult, but I am proud of our staff in how they have stepped up to assist the Catholic Schools Office with the secondment of Mrs Elise Baird for the remainder of 2021.

Athletics Carnival & Athletics Awards Assembly

On Thursday 29 July, we held our Annual Athletics Carnival. A big thank you to Elise Vinson, our Sports Coordinator, for organising the event, and all St Joseph’s Staff for their help to make the day possible!

Congratulations to all students for their efforts and sportsmanship, and both houses, St Andrews and St Josephs, for their overall win in our school’s very first official tie! A special mention to Demi-Renee Cruickshank, who set a new record for Junior Girls Shot Put at 6.2 meters, surpassing the previous result of 6.06 meters set in 1994.

On Friday 30 July, we live-streamed the Athletics Award Assembly via Facebook, which can be accessed via https://fb.watch/7bgLEoEUTz/

Lake Keepit Parent Information Night

Please note that the Lake Keepit Parent Information Night has been rescheduled for 5:00 - 5:30 pm on Wednesday 18 August, and will be held via Zoom. A link to this meeting will be communicated via Compass closer to the date.

Upcoming School Survey

A survey for parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. These surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to inform school improvement. The survey is aimed at the satisfaction of different stakeholders across a 12 month period. When completing the survey, please base your decision on your perception of our school over this time.

Responses are confidential, and individuals cannot be identified.

It will be available to access on Monday 16 August. Links will be communicated via email and Compass.

Book Week

This year our Book Week Parade will be held Friday 27 August.  Your child is invited to dress up as a book character or in a costume to match the 2021 Book Week theme Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.

There will be two small prizes awarded in each class for Best Costume and Costume that displays the Children’s Book Council of Australia theme.

Unfortunately, we are not able to have parents on-site for the parade, but this will be live-streamed via Facebook on the day.

We will also be holding a Book Fair during the week for students to make a wish list of books they would like. Further information regarding book vouchers and orders will be communicated closer to the date.

God Bless,

Alistair Stewart
