Open Day Shearing Competition 

The 2021 Open Day shearing and wool handling competition was a crowd favourite with 9 students competing in the shearing and 4 in the wool handling. Massive thanks to Mr Laird for the organisation and preparation of the competition. The competition had fantastic sponsorship from local businesses and families including West Coast Wools, Elders, Farmways, Livestock & Land, Quairading Seed Cleaners, Mark and Kylie Iles, Daniel De Beer, Noelle Treasure, Wayne Laird, Davina Farming and Old Collegians. 

 

The winners and place getters all received practical, quality prizes thanks to the generosity of these sponsors. 

 

The shearing places are as follows; 

  • 1st place: George Burt 
  • 2nd place: Jack Waters
  • 3rd place: William Lethlean
  • 4th place: Oliver McLeary 
  • 5th place: Aaron Cuthbertson 
  • 6th place: Jack Read
  • 7th place: Frazer Hagboom
  • 8th place: Isaac Pond 
  • 9th place: Rhys Dixon 

The wool handling placings are as follows;

  • 1st place: Chloe Taylor
  • 2nd place: Shannon Clarke 
  • 3rd place: Charlotte Crossen 
  • 4th place: Emily Fergusson 

 

 

Koorda Show 

WACoA- Cunderdin had 7 shearers and 8 Wool Handlers compete in an amazing Koorda Show. We had great results and couldn't have done it without Mr Wayne Laird. George Burt took out the win in the shearing, followed closely by Jack Waters (2nd), Aaron Cuthbertson (3rd) and Fraser Hagboom (4th). Charlotte Crossen won the wool handling with Jack Waters and Danielle Iles in equal 2nd.
