Student Services : Wellbeing

We are in your corner

The lockdown extension has left us all feeling a bit flat and it can be difficult to maintain motivation and mood when things start to feel blahh after a while.

We know many of our students are finding this period of remote learning harder than before, and we remind you that you are not alone. If you would like to chat about how things are going for you, get some advice or figure out some coping strategies together, please reach out to a member of the Wellbeing team, remote support is available for students learning from home. Families are welcome to contact us on 9488 2321 or reach out to you child’s Student Wellbeing Coordinator.

Some of the things we've been trying to give ourselves a lift:

Try taking a break…

Look over the 50 Ways to Take a Break illustration below. Pick a few you would like to try (you decide how many). Why not try one now!

See if anyone you live with might like to try one with you… I bet they need a break, too.

3 Ways to talk yourself up

The way you talk to yourself can really impact your confidence. The effect can be good or bad depending on whether your self-talk is positive or negative. We’ve got a few ways you can improve your self-talk below. find out more at https://au.reachout.com/articles/3-ways-to-talk-yourself-up

Welcoming Alex and Ella our student placement counsellors

The Student Services Wellbeing Team and our school community are very fortunate to have two students completing placements with us this semester. We have Alex Murray who is completing her Graduate Diploma of Counselling at Swinburne University and Ella Hunter who is completing her Social Work degree at RMIT. It has been a bit tricky for them to get to meet our wonderful students and broader community – but we are being creative and making it work! We look forward to having Alex and Ella be a part of our fantastic team for the remainder of the year.

Introducing Alex! Alex Murray grew up on a farm in Central NSW, her pets were either orphaned lambs or sheep dog puppies. Her favourite pet was a Kelpie dog by the name of Butch.

Alex has a broad background in Social Work with experience in child youth and family services, disability, rehabilitation and mental health.

Prior to becoming a Social Worker Alex worked in Legal Services.

Alex enjoys travelling (when able), walking in the bush and sharing meals and time with friends. She also loves getting back to the farm.
