Principal's Message

Well done to the Pre-primary and Year One students in the Bilbies for their wonderful assembly item last week. It's always lovely to see the effort the students put into their items and last week's was no exception. Well done to Mrs Boardman and the support staff for their hard work in preparing the students.

I won't go into detail about the Faction Carnival, with a section of this newsletter dedicated to it, but I would like to sincerely thank Mr Mihal and all the staff for their organisation of the event, as well as the students for their active participation across both days. Today we had many of our students represent Marangaroo at the interschool carnival, as well as this past Monday. The students tried their hardest and put a huge effort into each and every event - congratulations to all!

Last Tuesday, our early childhood classes hosted a teddy bear's picnic for all students in Kindy to Year Two, with students bringing along a teddy from home. It was lovely to see all the children sharing in this experience. Thanks to the early childhood staff for organising such a fun event for the students.

As has been previously communicated, sun smart hats will be compulsory for all students starting next term. This means a wide-brimmed hat, or a legionnaires style hat. If students do not have the appropriate hat, they will need to play in one of the under covered areas during recess and lunchtimes. Where possible, we would prefer students to be wearing the school uniform hat, which can be purchased from the P&C uniform shop for $20. If you previously purchased one of the older-style school hats from the P&C, you are able to swap it for a new one and just pay the $8 difference. The uniform shop is usually open on Monday mornings, but will be open the first Tuesday of Term Four, as the school will not be open on the Monday. The uniform shop is open from 8:30am until 9am.

With the warmer weather now here (finally!), I hope you enjoy some time in the sun with your children over the coming holidays. The last day of school this term is this Friday 24 September. Students return to school on Tuesday 12 October.

Thank you to Merredith Hammat MLA for supporting our school with a $12,500 IT grant that we recently received. We are currently discussiing and planning how these much needed funds would best be used to support the full compliment of student iPads we already have in the school.
