2020 MFG Open Night

It was with pride that we were able to open the Embling Wing doors to our future students and their families for the MFG Open Night on March 11th. After extensive refurbishment our building on the Main Campus was able to have her moment in the sun. Parents who are ex-students were stopped in their tracks as they walked in, as the façade does not prepare anyone for the changes that have happened within.

The atmosphere was upbeat with our ‘laneway’ between the two buildings showcasing interactive displays of Food Technology, Digital Technology and Outdoor Education and entertainment provided by the talented Young Hearts, Sweethearts the VET group and the VCE Music Performance students of MFG. It was lovely to watch them play as the sun lowered in the sky behind the performers.

The Learning Areas and learning support programs in our College were busy all night, where our fabulous students and teachers engaged with families to showcase the types of learning, programs and experiences we offer at MFG.

Michelle Crofts and her support panel ran Welcome Sessions throughout the evening where families could ask questions and find out information that will help them make their decision about whether MFG is the right fit for their daughter/s.

I would like to thank all of the MFG staff and participating students who contributed to the success of this evening, events like this only happen with the collective efforts of all.

On the following morning of March 12, we had over 50 families take up the opportunity to tour through MFG to see first-hand what it looks, sounds and feels like when we are at our normal business of learning. Thanks again to the students from 9L who took these tours and for their insightful conversations.

We were extremely lucky to have held this event prior to the COVID-19 restrictions. Unfortunately our Select Entry Advanced Program (SEALP) open night scheduled for March 17, was unable to proceed. Information about this program is available for families by contacting our office on 4243500. If you know of any families who would be interested in their daughters being part of the SEALP in 2021, please advise them of this line of communication.

Applications for the 2021 Year 7 SEALP are now open through our College website: https://www.mfgsc.vic.edu.au/2021-year-7-sealp-application-form/

The SEALP testing dates are Friday 17th April and Saturday 18th April, held at MFG.
