Interact members wrote inspiring notes for everyone's lockers for R U OK? Day
Emily and Laurene competed at the Evatt Model United Nations Debating State Finals.
R U OK? Day is a day to raise awareness for suicide prevention, depression and mental health. Interact is using this day to bring a little colour as we head into the SAC and Exam period.
Even during this busy, very difficult, and often stressful time, we want to make sure you're still hugging each other and looking forward to tomorrow together, and planning movies. The day is about checking up on EVERYONE in the community; but also a day that reaffirms how very okay it is to reach out for help and open up to the people around you.
PART 1:
of our project is all over the school. And each and every person's locker.
PART 2:
BAKE SALE LUNCHTIME across from the canteen// to remind you all that you're smart cookies// And also to showcase our JMSS bakers. **we'll be donating the proceeds to 'R U OK? Day' organisation.**
I'd like to thank some very selfless bakers:
Jessica Yan (Red Velvet Cupcake)
Bo Kok (Coconut Cupcake)
Rashmikka Thivakaran (Brownies)
Ashley Lau (Butter Cookies)
Nicole Zilmann, Yuko Kay, and Andrew (Baked Cheescake)
Natalie Tang (Brownies)
Ebony Leighton (Chocolate Fudge)
Chloe Wynen (Cupcakes)
Tim Ung (Oreo Slices)
Alysha W (Short Bread)
Carol Lee (Panda Macaroons)
I also think some very big claps (*CLAPS*) and thank yous (*THANKS GUYS*) are in order for the people (students and teachers) who supported, donated and purchased so many yummy baked goods. Life is lucky to have you.
PART 3:
HAPPY BOARD//hop on board the support and positivity. We have super-sticky sticky notes ready to go for anyone and everyone to write a positive message, stick it on and support the spirit of the day.
And to the Interacters out there. You guys are the most best eggs out there. Which is my metaphor for liquid-gold-hearted people. Thank you for giving up so many weeks to plan this project (embraces you all with my limited arm-span)
*drum rolls*

Some Year 12 students still need to register with VTAC, apply for courses and pay. This needs to be done before 28th September or the cost for their registration will increase to $103. Students can change their preferences as many times as they like, once they have registered, up until the 20th December. Keep in mind change of preference will close over the exam period and reopen after exams have finished.
Reminder to all Year 12 students that we will have Monash Reps here at school on the 19th December from 10am - 12pm to help with questions and assist with any course preference issues and changes. No booking is required.
Year 12 students interested in studying Medicine next year should consider attending a 2-hour Multiple Mini Interview Workshop we are running on 11th October. The workshop will assist students with what's involved with the interview process and understand and experience the skills needed to succeed in the interviews. This workshop will help students formulate a winning answer. The workshop will be run by James Lynch who attended the Year 12 camp earlier this year. Students who are interested should email Ms Carter. The cost for the workshop is $25.
If you have any questions please feel free to email us, kirstine.carter@jmss.vic.edu.au or michelle.mascaro@jmss.vic.edu.au. You can also come and see us on the ground floor near the stairs under Flannery House.
