Ninna marni (Hi, How are you?),
NAIDOC Week is coming up next week in the school holidays, 7-14 July 2019, and there are lots of things happening around Adelaide to celebrate. NAIDOC originally stood for 'National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee'. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has become the name of the week itself.
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The theme for this year is ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s Work Together.’
This is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. There is a Family Fun Day with lots of activities for the kids, a concert and food on Friday 12thJuly at Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) from 11.30am - 3.30pm. Hope to see you there!
