Resource Centre-Mentone

We are excited to announce that St Bede’s staff and students across both campuses have access to Britannica School, a digital resource that offers differentiated learning via three reading levels.

Please click here for a quick instruction sheet on getting started with Britannica School, including how students can access it anywhere, and at any time from the library website. (Students need to log in with their normal St Bede’s user ID and password to access the library website)

When students are at school, they can also access Britannica directly by clicking on the button below.

Once logged in, check out these great new resources on ANZAC Day

Britannica’s special features include:

  • Three reading levels – students can easily move between levels to help consolidate or challenge learning
  • Double-click dictionary, powered by Mirriam-Webster – allows learners to access content at any comprehension level (double-click on any word in an article to access the dictionary)
  • Text to speech tool (with an Australian accent) on all Britannica articles – useful for students with English as a second language or comprehension difficulties
  • Closed Caption and Audio Descriptor videos – useful for hearing or sight impaired students
  • Translate tool - read in language of your choice
  • 9,000 Australian articles (and growing)
  • 800,000 EBSCO journal articles
  • 1,200 new articles per month
  • Primary sources
  • Curated Web’s Best Sites

As always, students can pop in to the library anytime – we’d love to help them with any questions they may have about this excellent new resource, or any of our resources!
