Deputy Principal Updates:

What a wonderful first term we have experienced. Our Foundation students have settled in beautifully and are quickly learning the routines and structures of school. It's been a busy term with Open Nights, school masses and liturgies, assemblies and awards, sporting events, leadership opportunities and loads of learning taking place.
5/6 Students Leading Stations of the Cross
Yesterday all 5/6 students participated in leading the Stations of the Cross to the entire school. It was lovely to see the wooden 'stations' being used and the students re-enacting the events of Good Friday with the reflection questions relating to the students and their lives. A great effort everyone.....students for your participation, teachers for your planning, Miss Levesque for your organisation and Chris and Frank for putting up the posts for the stations. What a team effort!
Naplan.
Last week all Year 3 and Year 5 students used their devices to participate in a national practice session on logging on to the Naplan test site.
Naplan testing will occur during Week 4 of next term with tests covering Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. If you have any concerns regarding your child taking these tests please make contact with their teacher as soon as you can.
BookClub
Book Club will now only be available online or through the App. Everyone has made the smooth transition with online lunch orders so hopefully there won't be any issues. Please either ask myself or at the office if you need help setting up the app.
Fire Drill Practice
This week we had our first fire drill for the year.....and what a great job everyone did. Everyone was assembled on the oval and accounted for in 4 minutes and 27 seconds. Fantastic effort. Let's hope we never have to use it for real!!!
Celebrating Term One
At this week's staff meeting, all staff shared and celebrated students work with each other. It was a great opportunity for teachers to share their work and to see the progression of students that they may have taught previously.
Student Celebration Page
A new page is being added to the newsletter
this week celebrating students and their achievements outside of school. This could be in the area of sport, music, the Arts, competitions etc. If your child is involved in something that could be shared with the school community please email myself or the office to let us know and we will do our best to acknowledge their achievements.

Anzac Day
Thank you to Reshmi Pal, Isabel Zampaglione and Millie Gemmill who have volunteered to represent St Luke's at the Anzac Day Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony with Mrs Findlay.
Zooper Doopers
A big thank you to everyone who bought a zooper dooper over the term. Students have voiced their wishes for the money to be spent on graphic novels, sports equipment, board games, and a new entrance for the school to help with car parking. The first three items I can cover but I think we will need to buy a lot more zooper doopers for their last wish.
Ongoing Assessment
Please check on PAM for your child's ongoing assessment pieces. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
Parent -Teacher Communication
Although Term One saw less parents on school grounds, the communication between teachers and parents was still very evident. Phone calls, zoom meetings, emails, face to face meetings are all ways to keep in touch with your child's teacher and their learning. If you have any concerns please make contact.
Mr Keenan and his family are having a very well deserved holiday (somewhere.....depending on restrictions etc) so we hope it's a restful and relaxing time together.
Happy holidays to everyone.
Have a wonderful time with family and friends.
Stay safe and well,
Maree :)
