Journeying Together in Christ
Today is Holy Thursday. John 13:1-15 begins with the Jesus Washing the Disciple's Feet. The events of the evening into Good Friday include: Jesus Foretells His Betrayal, Peter's Denial, Praying the Garden of Gethsemane, The Betrayal, The Questioning of Jesus before the High Priest, before Pilate, Jesus' Sentencing and The Crucifixion of Jesus.
On Wednesday the Year 5/6 children role played the Stations of the Cross. They were superb in retelling this special event. Jesus made many sacrifices. At times during Lent we may have made sacrifices for others. You deserve to treat yourself this weekend.
On Wednesday we drew 115 prizes for our Annual Easter Raffle. Thank you so much to the Community Group helpers for arranging the gifts. A huge thank you to all who made donations.
At our staff meeting on Tuesday we made it a celebration of children's academic efforts and growth. The passion the staff displayed when sharing the successes should give you confidence that we have good people educating your children.
Alisha Exton finishes today after one term with us. She is relocating to Nowra NSW. We wish her all the best.
Bella Walker will take over for the rest of the year. Miss Walker met the children and staff on Tuesday. She is a graduate teacher and cannot wait to join St. Luke's.
Karina Black is looking forward to her wedding during the holidays. She will be on Long Service Leave for the first two weeks . Miss Allison Durling will be the replacement teacher.
Jess Johnson will still be with us for week 1 and will go on maternity leave on Friday 23rd April. We wish Jess all the best with the birth of her second child. Miss Jacqui Butler will take over for the rest of the year. We have been very fortunate that Jacqui has been able to spend the past few weeks with us.
Last Sunday I had a hit of golf and one of our parents joined me in the Sunday competition. For those who know golf, he had 45 stableford points! Well done Andrew Lacey. It is good weather for golf and anything outdoors at the moment.
On Tuesday I captured this beautiful moment. One student looking out for another. Caring for each other is special and our foundation students modelled this. Staff often witness moments like this across all year groups. Parents instil these values in children and we foster them at school.
Last Thursday I was MC for the opening of Kathleen's Garden and Eco Cottage. Steve Hicks and Mons. Peter Jeffrey opened each of the respective areas.
We welcomed the McBain and Collins families, Fr Joe Taylor, Shepp Access and Eco Park board members students and staff from St. Luke's.
This day was a special occasion for the relationship between Shepparton Access and St. Luke's. The initiative was first discussed with Wendy Shanks, Steve Hicks and Mons. Peter. St. Luke's is passionate about their ongoing community relationship and support for people who benefit from Eco Park and Cottage. I have spent 5 years working with Wendy, Mick and Gabby. It's not work for us, but a privilege to share this special bond. Our students learn from them and the adults visiting Eco Park. We thank Wendy Shanks from Shepparton Access. As I said, "Wendy turns words into actions."
We will continue with the times we trialled in Week 8/9/10. We will review this at the end of the year leading into 2022.
Thank you to all those who have started direct debits, paid up front or contacted us about time of payments. For those who have not made any contact or payment please do so before Friday 8th May (End of Week 3, Term 2). Do this by emailing or ringing the office. If you need support please notify the office and I will discuss this with you when I return form Leave. If we do not hear from you, you will receive the first letter.
REMINDER: Children are not to use their phones/watches to talk or text while on school grounds.
Any change to school pick-up must be communicated to the school via the office. If we do not know of changes it may cause confusion for staff on duty. A school policy will be made available in Term 2.
