At the end of this term, students will all receive a short report; it will be uploaded on the Parent Portal at the end of Week 10. This report is designed to provide a snapshot of your student’s learning, and learning behaviours, to date. On Thursday 22nd April (Term 2, Week 1) we will be having Parent Student Teacher interviews; this is an ideal opportunity to meet with teachers and work towards the common goal of the ‘best outcome’ for your student. We look forward to meeting with many of you and encourage you to bring your child, as the learner, to these interviews.
NAPLAN Online
St Mary’s is currently setting up for NAPLAN Online. Our students have been given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the program in Week 9 of this term and will sit the actual tests each morning on Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th May. Students in Years 7-9 will be using their own device (if it has the appropriate capabilities) for the testing, with staff assisting them to download the required application and check their device. Students will require a set of earphones for the tests and will need to ensure their device is fully charged on the test dates. Please assist your child to ensure they are test ready with their equipment.
PARENT TEACHER ONLINE
On Thursday 22nd April, 2:00-6:30pm we will be having our first Parent Student Teacher interviews for 2021. We will be using the booking system called Parent Teacher Online (PTO) for these interviews. Information will be emailed to parents at the end of this term (for those who have not provided the school with an email address, your information will be mailed out) – all you need to arrange is access to a computer. The system will not be opened for bookings until reports are uploaded in the Portal. Bookings and changes can be made up until 3:00pm on the day before interviews, however bookings are made on a first in, first served basis. If, after receiving your booking information, you have any questions please contact the school office. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.
SUBJECT CHANGES
Just a reminder that SMCC operates under Semester units of work (with the exception of some of the Year 7 and 8 program) therefore we will not be offering opportunities for students to change subjects until the start of Semester 2, following the mid-year holiday.
Some Year 7 and 8 electives will roll over during, or at the end of, Term 1.
ASSESSMENT PLANNERS
To assist students to manage their time effectively, Term Assessment Planners are provided. This is to enable forward planning to ensure that students do not get overwhelmed by assessment. Parents, please encourage your student to organise themselves and to fully utilise the time and teacher support available to them throughout the drafting and revision phase of assessment. If they have any concerns, encourage them to discuss these with their teacher as soon as possible.
A reminder that Maths Tutorial is held every Monday afternoon in the Library.
Wishing you all a safe, relaxing holiday and a blessed Easter…
