Amazing School Production 2016

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time”, a play adapted from the Novel of the same name written by Mark Haddon formed the centrepiece of the Year 12 Theatre Studies performance. Presented on two nights to local audiences of students, families and staff, the audience were taken on a journey through the eyes of Christopher John Francis Boone. One night Christopher finds his neighbour’s dog, Wellington, dead in his garden. He must solve the mystery of who killed the dog whilst solving the mystery of his mother.
The 13 brave Year 12 students worked for 6 months designing every part of the set and staging, making careful choices about each item of costume and each individual prop. They chose every light, sound and projection image. They designed every poster and ticket and performed ‘flashmob’ vignettes to promote their production. The group composed original music scores, choreographed dances and recorded voiceovers. Each member of the class remained on stage for the entirety of the production.
The play was a well-executed performance that drew the audience into the life of the characters as it weaved its way through the mind of a young man who finds the strength to be brave, courageous and travel outside of his comfort zone. Every facet of the experience was a testament to the hard work and creative genius of the students guided by their teacher Chloe Palmer and supported by Morgana Jones.
