Winton Cluster:

Great Green News

Winton Cluster News

Recently, the annual Cluster Feast Day took place. The Winton Cluster was able to come together to share their faith with a very reflecting mass ceremony, which was led by Father Noel Brady. It was a great ceremony, highlighting many talents within the cluster.

After lunch we gathered together to learn about Sea Shepherd Australia. We learnt that they were a non-profit organisation whose mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

To close the day, we partook in cluster games. Every tutor was to get involved with a particular game competing against the other clusters of the college. Games such as relays, food eating competitions and much more were played. The roar of the Winton Cluster went insane with every win!

The Winton cluster of 2016 has displayed an amazing effort throughout term 1 and term 2. In term 1, we began with Teeball. The results didn’t go our way but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves on the field and participating, which is what cluster sports are all about.  Aaron Paul played consistently throughout his last Teeball cluster sports, receiving his weekly home run as a result of his massive hit. For females, Tatum Loriente, in her very first game for the college, hit a hard ball straight down the middle to contribute to her cluster a home run.

This term, we have played soccer. Both the boys and girls gave their best at all times with a win coming late in the season. Mark Grillo and Jordan D’Rosario both put consistent performances in all games for the boys. Erin Go, has for 2 years running, given it her all being Winton’s female goalkeeper and pulling off some spectacular saves. Sofia Galea, during her first games for the cluster, went in tough and held her ground.

The Winton cluster display respect throughout their cluster games, as it is one of our cluster values.  No matter the outcome, whether it is a win or loss, Winton walk off with their heads up high smiling because they gave it all they could.  It's great to see so many students in both year 11 and 12, wanting to participate each week to contribute to our cluster in their own way.

Next term, there will be another sport and all of Winton is excited to come up against the other clusters. As this will be the year 12's final cluster sport for the college, hopefully they can leave with a win!
