Chickens Leave Foundation
Over the last two weeks Foundation have been parents to eight chicks.
Last week the eggs hatched in an incubator and the children watched as they became little yellow fluffy chicks.
The chicks have grown up very fast. The yellow fluff is still on each chick but feathers are beginning to grow.
It has been a wonderful experience for the children and we will be sorry to see them go.
Most of the hens ( the brown coloured chicks) will be going to Ms Whiffen's sisters farm, some to Lexie in Year 5 and some to Miss Corio. The chicks going with Ms Whiffen, will join the other hens we have had in Foundation over the years.
Thanks to all the children and parents who have made the hatching program a great success by talking to their child about the chickens, lifecycles and what they need to live and grow.
I asked the Foundation children what they enjoyed about the chicks and this is what they said.
Madison- I loved watching them hatch out of the egg and touching them.
Mikayla- I liked the noises the chicks made. They were noisy.
Lucia- I liked naming the chicks.
Peyton-I liked that they were so fluffy.
Anita- I liked when Mrs Busch took photos of me with the chick.
Audrey-I liked when we put the chicks on the mat and they ran around.
Poppy- I liked holding the chicks
Eve- I liked how they were so soft.
Ethan-I liked holding them.
Arran-I liked when we got to hold them.
Matilda J- I liked seeing them flap their wings.
Alice- I liked how soft and fluffy they were.

A Poem by Angie K
Inside Out in a Nutshell
Riley, born in Minnesota.
Content, jumping on her sofa.
Till one day…
She moves away.
First day of school,
Thought she was cool,
But once Sadness and Joy were gone,
Riley was no one.
While Sadness and Joy trying to find their way,
Riley was trying to run away.
When Joy and Sadness made it back to us,
Riley’s already on the bus.
When Sadness got the idea out of her mind,
Riley acted like she was blind.
Riley returned home at the speed of light,
While her parents were filled with fright.
When she returned, her parents had a sigh.
Poor old Riley started to cry.
Now that Riley has more than a friend,
I guess this is the end.
