WELLBEING

Mix Up day

Well done to all the Year 6’s last week on producing a fantastic Mix up day. There was lots of interaction amongst students from all year levels, meeting and making new friends as well as learning about many different ways to accommodate for others in your life. Thank-you to Mrs Herbert for facilitating the day.

Growth Mindset

Over this term and next term I have been very fortunate to be given the opportunity to have professional learning from the Berry St Education Model through the CEM. The professional learning runs over 4 days. Each day there is a different focus. So far I have covered the Body and Relationships. Each week at St James all classes are involved in a SEL(Social and Emotional Learning) lesson. During these lessons teachers focus on new strategies of engagement and mindfulness. You may have seen your children showing you new tricks like thumb and finger pointing or table top drumming even!

Last Tuesday we learnt about growth mindset and how the way that we use language can have a huge impact on the lives of the people around us. We also learnt about process praise. Please follow this link to find out more about growth mindset and process praise and how it can be used to support students and our children.

Holy Week Liturgies

As we continue to move through Lent we begin to draw on the many scriptures told to develop our own understanding if this time in the church and see the importance of this in our lives today. Holy Week is the lead up to the death and resurrection of Jesus and a focus within all the classrooms over the coming weeks.

Again this year the students are presenting these stories told through Holy Week during the last week on Term 1 and the first week of Term 2. Please see below a timetable of which classes sharing which stories. We look forward to seeing as many parents join us for this special time.
