Secondary Campus Report

From the Secondary Campus Principal

In true Lakes tradition, the school year started with blistering hot days.  Nevertheless, there were no complaints or issues arising from our school community and everyone adjusted accordingly to the weather and to school.  It has been a wonderful start to the year.  Students have returned very settled in classes and engaged in their learning.  This is a transition year for our uniform but an increasing number of our students have started in the new uniform and they look very smart and classy.  We welcome every new family to our great school.  I hope you took up the opportunity to engage in the learning of your child at our Meet & Greet Day.  Every new student has a buddy and an induction support program organised by the Wellbeing Team.  Home Group teachers have a focus on ensuring that students' needs and concerns are addressed at all times.  At our welcoming assembly, we highlighted the need to work together as a team to maximise learning and enjoyment at school.

Some things have changed.

We have year 10 students for the first time. This is extremely exciting as a senior end will add a different emphasis to our programs, our culture and the maturity of our school.  Our Year 6 team is equally ecstatic about having their own pod this year.  They have an excellent facility with lots of space and they are placing their stamp on their new turf with a range of visuals and interactive programs. We are confident that each teacher will value-add significantly to programs and school life this year.

Some things never change.

Our school is focused on developing high levels of student agency, the Wellbeing and Welfare Teams are geared to provide further strength to our restorative practices and inclusion programs and teaching and learning is targeted to developing the individual learner.

Finally, I would like to wish our new school captains much success in 2020: Angela R., Caleb, Louise, Jessica C., and Angelina D.

Thank you for your cooperation and support once again this week. Have a lovely weekend!

Bill.
