Beef

This week Mr Millichamp and Mr Edwards commenced the artificial insemination program to mate our beef herd.  The program involves a fixed time A.I program where a mob of cattle are synchronised to be mated all at the same time.  The program will continue over the next few weeks giving students the opportunity to be involved in a substantial amount of cattle work.  Students will also commence calf marking of our beef herd.

Dairy

In the recent Bega (our milk supply company) monthly newsletter, they publish the top 50 dairy farms who have the best milk quality.  It was pleasing to see that our College was recognised for our high milk quality and to be placed 6th on the list of 50 suppliers.  We are one of only two suppliers from WA on the list.

Congratulations goes to Mr Falkingham, Ms Holmes and all the farm staff and students who operate our Dairy enterprise.

Pasture

Our pasture seeding program is coming to a close this week as we only have one paddock at beef and one paddock on our regenerative agriculture to complete. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking to apply some fertiliser to our Dairy and Beef pasture paddocks.

We have also received some excellent rain this week with a total of 45mm falling on Monday and Tuesday.
