SOFTBALL REPORT

Thursday 2nd June 2022…The Question Marks played another really close and exciting game of softball against The Mighty Batters!

First inning: The Mighty Batters batted first and everyone did an excellent job. However, the standout batters were Levi and Robbie and on the other team, it was Jordan and Emmy. Both teams were fielding very effectively.

Second inning: All players produced high-quality batting even better than in the first inning. But the catches were next level with Liam taking the best catch of the game and Levi catching and throwing effectively. Arianna also took some helpful catches too. At the end of this inning, the scores were tied, ten all!

Third inning: the highlight was the batting, as each player hit the ball into the gaps in the field or into the outfield. Jordan hit the ball past the soccer goals and Robbie hit the ball well past second base. In this inning both teams were working hard in the field, trying to stop home runs.

The final scores were The Question Marks thirteen runs and the Mighty Batters eleven.

Netball NPS VS St Francis

A winter sports game took place in Nathalia with NPS playing St. Francis. We played Year 3, 4 and 5 kids so it wasn’t exactly fair, but since we are not that experienced it evened out.

In Quarter 1, we had some AMAZING gameplays, I can say that! Everyone used proven strategies such as staying in front of their player, not throwing the ball backwards down the court, and of course, trying their best! There was also some great defending thanks to Shaely. With the Wings and Centre trying together we moved the ball down to the ring many times, but we had only scored two goals by the end of the first quarter! St. Francis scored one.

Quarter 2 was our best quarter of the game and here’s why: we had amazing defence as well as amazing gameplay, always threw the ball forward, got the ball down to the ring a lot, and let me tell you, the hard work paid off! Thanks to Haylee and Olivia’s goal shooting, we scored seven goals this quarter and St. Francis gained just one more.

In Quarter 3, we lacked a little. The shooters had trouble shooting since the other team kept getting the ball. The Wings and Goal Shooters worked together as much as they could and scored two goals for us; thankfully St. Francis only gained one goal.

In the last quarter, we decided to play the same positions as Quarter 2 because that’s when we scored the most goals. I can for sure tell you, that it paid off. We got seven goals once again, while St. Francis only scored one. I was grateful for all those who tried their best and had amazing gameplay!

Shaely and Haylee had fantastic defence strategies and we worked so well altogether as a team. I am Thankful to all of the girls for trying their best and hope we do the same for our next winter sports game!

Netball Report: Shooting Stars V St. Francis Nathalia

By Taesharn

Yesterday both of our netball teams went to Nathalia to play St. Francis. Our captains completed the toss and my team won which meant that we had the option to choose between the centre pass or to choose what end we wanted to shoot at. Of course, we took the centre pass.

We started off strong and had some great passes throughout the court. One of our highlights was that our defence was very effective; we quickly and accurately passed the ball down to our shooters Sienna and Taesharn, who worked really well together in the ring. Another highlight was that we were using names before we threw the ball which made a BIG difference.

Overall our scores ended up being 17 to 13 Numurkah’s way.  It was a very close and exciting game.
