Library News

Renovations

Library renovations have finished ahead of schedule, with our new spaces revealing a modern and welcoming design.  The library circulation desk has been moved to provide a more functional flow for students who are returning and borrowing items. The ‘New Books’ disc-display, showcasing new titles for loan, has moved along the wall near the entrance corner and the photocopier has been relocated next to the study bar, near the Seminar Room. Classes have resumed and we are as busy as ever during lunchtime and recess.

Overdue? Renew!

It is great to see students selecting new recreational books to read.  The library has many books overdue this term and would kindly ask students and parents to keep an eye out for library books and renew them or return them so that others may read them.

National Reconciliation Week

To celebrate National Reconciliation Week later in the month, the library is hosting a colouring competition. Students are encouraged to enter the MGSC library colouring competition to win one of ten prizes by Indigenous Artists.

Pick up your competition form at the Library desk or from the Wellbeing office - you can enter as many times as you like.  Be sure to note your name and class on the bottom of the page and submit your entries before Friday 27 May.  Winners announced Wednesday 1 June. Take a look at some of our fabulous entries from students (below).

Post-it Note Wall Mural

The post it note wall mural has now finished and provides a colourful and inviting entrance to the library foyer.  A big thank you to Marina Uceda for leading this project and Yasmin Carabott, Amelie Kujawski, Sienna Kujawski, Joanna Lagadinou and Jemimah Stewart for giving up their lunchtimes to ‘complete the picture’.

Our mural ties in with the 2022 Book Week theme ‘Dreaming with your eyes open’ as butterflies and birds form the basis of the marketing artwork.

Book Club

Term 2 books have finally arrived and are ready for collection at the library desk.  Our next meeting will be: Thursday 16 June at Lunchtime (bring your lunch) in the Library Seminar Room.  New members are welcome
