Konnichiwa, minasan! (Hello, everyone!)

‘YOUKOSO’ (Welcome) to the Upwey South Japanese Room!

I hope you are having a lovely term.

Here is the update from the Japanese classroom…

Foundation:

Foundation students have been working on their portfolio task which is a video-recording. They were to respond to the teacher’s question ’genki desu ka? (How are you?)’ and it was great to see there were many brave students who wanted to try again and again! Well done!

Year 1&2:

Year 1 and 2 students have been developing their conversation skills through their portfolio task. They worked on greeting to each other, asking a question and answering the question in pairs. It is always lovely to observe the students practising their phrases amongst themselves and encouraging each other. Great effort!

Year3&4:

Year 3 and 4 students have been revising the adjectives they have learnt in term 1 and applying those to their original sentences. I observed some students were making funny sentences in Japanese and other students understood and laughed! Fantastic work!

Year 5&6:

Year 5 and 6 students have been working on personalising their self-introductory phrases. It is impressive that they are not afraid of long Japanese sentences and started to speak them quite fluently. Amazing work!
