Unit 1 students explored a variety of Collage Artists and looked at their use of materials and techniques as inspiration for their own self portrait artworks. Using many different materials, they worked through the creative studio process to explore, develop and refine their ideas to interpret and respond to that inspiration, finally developing their own perspectives of themselves.

‘Your Face’, Year 11 Studio Art, 2022
The general shape of this piece intended to mimic the shape of an irregular mirror, and the omission of the eyes and large empty white spaces were done so that this ‘mirror’ could reflect the infinite potential of anyone, including myself, who looked into it. Choosing to replace some parts of my face with flowers was not only done to make the piece more visually appealing but also to make this self-portrait customisable and almost a self-portrait of everyone.
Mixed Media: Printed overhead projector sheet, paper, canvas, foam panel and thin silver pins, and was inspired by the works of Ben Giles and David Adey.
