PAC Upgrades

The show must go on!

This has well and truly been the motto for Jackson and myself as we have set out to make significant technical and venue upgrades to the PAC and classroom AV systems.

Due to the ever changing nature of production, technical outcomes and show requirements, I felt it necessary to do some upgrades to our core services within the theatre to ensure we can support anything that comes our way.

We have spent significant time working on the audio system which has included the purchase of a new digital sound desk (capable of running 96 inputs, digital networking and student friendly), re-installing our incredible sound system, re-building of the patching racks and general theatre infostructure.

On top of this we have also done upgrades to the lighting system, both with the physical layout and the console.

We needed to change the lighting rig in order to cater for many different events we host both internally and external, to date we have close to 100 fixtures running in our system. We made the move to a GrandMA-2 lighting console, which is a industry standard console. The console has proven to be a valuable player at the school with students being able to easily program and execute shows. The console also offers 3D rendering of our theatre and that means we can start to pre-program for Matilda without having any of the physical fixtures onsite.

But wait there's more!

We have also set up a new control area in front of the pre-existing bio booth and a massive thanks goes to John from our maintenance team for building us 3 purpose designed desks for our consoles and control equipment. It's safe to say our new control area looks amazing.

We have also made the move to a new classroom AV system called “Vivi”.

Vivi is a wireless presentation system designed for all devices and all users. At its core, it is built for teachers and as a result we are having great wins in the classroom with staff and students easily accessing the screens across campus. We are in the process of installing 70 new Vivi units across the entire school. Vivi has some amazing features including, emergency management, site wide broadcasting, the ability to link multiple rooms, guest access, countdown timers and digital signage.

And in our spare time, the team has also hosted five external events and will also play host to Stage School Australia in June for their 2022 showcase.

To date, the PAC and team have hosted the Junior School production, 15 assemblies, House Performing Arts, Year 9/11/12 Theatre Studies shows, the Autumn Ensembles Concert and of-course we are gearing up for Matilda 2022.

Our PAC team has also expanded with Jackson Harper now working full time and Georgia Thompson part-time.

Personally, I would like to thank the staff, students and parents for making me feel so welcomed into this very special community.

Exciting times ahead!
