June Music Notes

Upcoming Recitals

Our solos recital series in the Orchestral Room is fast approaching and students and teachers are preparing themselves to present samples of their repertoire to an audience. Members of the school community are most welcome to attend any of the following concerts: 

Piano Recitals on Tuesday 14 June

Strings Recitals on Wednesday 15 June 

Brass/Woodwind/Guitar Recitals on Thursday 16 June

All concerts commence at 7:00pm in the Orchestral Room. 

Upcoming Competitions

After an enforced hiatus over the last few years, our three large instrumental ensembles have been entered into the returning Monash Youth Music Festival. The Senior Symphony Orchestra, Senior Concert Band and Middle School Orchestra have been entered into their respective sections to perform in the Huntingtower PAC on the afternoon of Saturday 23 July. Consequently, our resumption of rehearsals (following the House Performing Arts Festival) are very focussed on preparations for this competition. Unfortunately, due to some pre-existing school events we were unable to enter our choirs into the Monash Youth Music Festival.

Upcoming Annual Concert

A reminder that our major ‘Annual Concert’ will take place on the evening of Tuesday 30 August. Please mark this date in your calendars if you’re interested in seeing every Huntingtower choirs and instrumental ensemble perform in our very own amazing Performing Arts Centre. More details will be communicated in early Term 3.

Middle School Classroom Music 

Our Year 8 and 9 classroom music students are rehearsing the final touches for their collaborative ensemble performance, occurring on Friday the 10th of June during lunchtime. 

Our Year 7 students are also working towards their combined choral piece also being showcased during this lunchtime performance. 

Both ensembles will be entirely student led – with student accompanists and conductors leading the ensembles.
