Reflections on "Sing and Play!"

Congratulations to the kids, thank you to the audience and respect to my colleagues.

We spent a lot of time planning, preparing and producing this event and we were really pleased to host an evening of entertainment for the community. We were blessed with a lovely audience and the students were really happy to be able to perform for all of you.

I am pleased that each class had three opportunities to perform on stage; their class dance, a music item, and the finale. Also, many students took on extra responsibilities as backstage crew, actors, dance leaders and guest performers. Students generated performance ideas and their actions and enthusiasm shaped the event. Well done kids!

It is a special feeling for a child to be on stage and entertain their loved ones. It’s also a valuable teaching and learning opportunity. We will build on the success of this production and continue to strengthen our Performing Arts culture as time goes on. I look forward to the next time we take to the stage, when your children will have new skills and ideas to share with you.
