SPORTS

On Friday May 13th the year 7 girls softball team travelled to Kingston Heath Reserve to compete in the Southern Metropolitan Finals. With Lily, Danielle and Chloe unwell we had the bare minimum of 9 players available (Katherine, Bronte, Charlotte, Olivia, Thea, Steffi, Mary, Annabelle and Ada). It was a tremendous effort by all to play three by 70 minute games without a sub. The girls lost their first match in a very close contest against Cheltenham Secondary College. As they became accustomed to some of the new rules and gained confidence in their abilities play improved. They went on to defeat Narre Warren South and Elisabeth Murdoch College (the eventual winners). We finished second on percentage. In some fantastic news we have since been offered and have accepted a place in the State Finals in November after the withdrawal of another school. With the year 8 girls also progressing to States it has been a fantastic start to the sporting year for our College. I would like to pay tribute to our outgoing Sports Coordinator Alisia Simmons. Her dedication and amazing organisational skills ensure our teams and coaches are always well prepared for competition. This enables everyone to perform at their best. Karen Gibson(coach).
