2020 Language Captains

Congratulations to our 2020 Language Captains, Jaime and Ethan.  Both boys study Indonesian and are very excited by their new role. When speaking to the boys about their appointments as Language Captains they said "We love learning language...it’s not as difficult as you would think”. Jaime likes being able to communicate in Indonesian when he travels to Bali, especially since he is the only one in his family who can.

Both boys are incredibly proud of being elected and are excited to encourage others to study a language.

Year 8 Food Tasting

Our Year 8 Language students had the opportunity to taste a range of Indonesian and Japanese traditional foods, as part of their cultural studies. They then learnt vocabulary and sentence patterns to be able to explain what they ate and how they felt about it.

The Japanese students tried things like, wasabi peas, mochi, edamame, hi-chew, nori to name a few. On the other hand, our Indonesian students had the pleasure of sampling a range of fresh Indonesian fruits such as durian, mangosteen, papaya and dragon fruit.

Welcome

Welcome to all our Year 7 Language students!

Our Year 7 students have been very busy settling in to life at Dromana College. In their language classrooms they have been learning basic self-introduction phrases and key geographical information about their respective countries.

Year 8

Our Year 8 students are working hard to explore the wonderful word of food. They are writing up menus and creating food charts of their daily eating habits. Here are some fantastic examples.
