USA Basketball Trip

Dromana College sent 19 students and 3 teachers on an amazing experience to the USA for a Tip Off Basketball excursion in December 2019. The cohort started off in Dallas, Texas  where an epic highlight was getting up close and personal with the junior coaches of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. The students were trained on the court by these coaches where the professional players also train everyday.  Everyone was lucky to also have a look inside the locker rooms and check out all their amazing shoes and not to mention the size of their shoes! Have a look at their Instagram @mavsacad where you will find us featured on the Mavericks academy Instagram page here is a link:

Other awesome adventures were:

- sitting court side at an NBA game watching the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings practice before the big game, a highlight which the students loved.

-  playing 4 games at 2 high schools ( 3 wins and 1 loss)

-  Dallas Cowboys stadium tour. The students were able to see the cowboys locker rooms, the cheerleaders locker rooms and an actual  field tour.

-  Disneyland, Universal Studios and  Venice Beach. The students (and staff) had an amazing time and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Cricket

Our Intermediate girls and boys cricket teams won through to higher levels on Tuesday 18 February. Congratulations to all players. The games were played in and out of the wet weather at Mt Eliza, Emil Madsen reserve.

Dromana College Swimming Carnival

The Dromana College Swimming Carnival is annually one of the best days of the school year. Students take  pride in participating in all aspects of the carnival. Whether it’s competing, dressing up in house colours or cheering on their fellow classmates, the atmosphere at Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Glen Waverley is incredible and 2020 was no exception. This year the Year 12 students led the way with their creative displays of motivation that trickled all the way down to the junior year levels. The day catered for all varieties of activities, including the usual competitive races such as Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly, along with a novelty event at the end of the day which is always fun. Out of the pool, snow cones were sold by the Cambodia Fundraiser team and the Sport and Rec students were to be congratulated on their help in setting up the event. A big thank you to the Saint John’s Ambulance volunteers who were  there looking out for everyone.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the college swimming carnival, it was a successful and fun day had by all.
