2017 House Music/Grandparents' Day
On Monday 18th September, the Junior School will hold the 2017 House Music competition in conjunction with Grandparents’ Day. Parents and grandparents are invited to attend this special event. The morning will commence at 10.00am and conclude with morning tea and tours of the Junior School classrooms. The 2017 theme is ‘Colours’. Each of the four Houses will sing the set song ‘I can Sing a Rainbow’. We will then combine the Berry/Young House to sing ‘Yellow Submarine’ and Laidlaw/Learmonth House who will sing ‘Purple People Eater’. The Chamber singers will also perform along with a special performance from Senior Campus students. It should be a wonderful morning’s entertainment.
Second Bite
The Uniting Church is launching their annual Canned Food Appeal and Junior School families are encouraged to donate to this worthy cause. In line with our 2017 focus of ‘Kiazen’ we hope this will make a 100% improvement across the wider Hamilton community. Our goal is to donate 100 cans of either fruit, vegetables, soup, spaghetti, baked beans, ham and ready meals of creamed rice to the appeal. Donated cans may be placed in specified boxes in the reception area.

Division 5
Congratulations to the College Division 5 team who won their first match of the season. The team beat Monivae 3 - 0. Dougal White, Darcy Fleetwood and Charlie Hawthorne all scored for College. It was a super team effort from everyone. Coach Maddi Mutch was very pleased with her team.
Division 5
College Hurricanes had a strong 8-2 win over Demons. The team gelled from the first whistle and were leading 3-0 at half time. The goals were shared amongst the players and everyone greatly contributed to a solid team effort. Hugh Foster played strongly in his best outing for the season.
College Lightning had a 5-1 win over an ever improving Dunkeld to keep their finals chances alive. Sybil Fleetwood scored her first goal of the season and played strongly throughout the match. She was well supported by Olivia Rees, Izzi Adamson and Lucy Roberts. Lightning demonstrated strong team spirit and a willingness to support each other. The talk on the field is always positive and encouraging.
College Storm had a hard-fought 2-1 win over Coleraine Gold. Luke Marshall impressed in the forward line. Charlie Duver was strong in defence and was ably supported by Thomas Stratmann and Macey Hermon. With three games to go in the regular season, Storm is well in contention for a spot in the finals.

Hoop Time
On Thursday 27th July, the Year 3 and 4 students participated in a Hooptime Basketball tournament at HILAC. The day consisted of teams playing several 13-minute games against other local schools. We entered four teams and all teams had a very successful day, winning most of their matches. Three of our teams advanced through from the semi-final to play in the grand-final. The All-Star boys’ team played Hamilton North in the grand final and in a very close game, went down by 1 point. Our two Future Stars’ teams, HAC Hawks and HAC Heat, both played in the semi-finals for their sections and advanced through to the grand final where they played each other. At the end of the game the score was a draw. Due to the grand final margins being so close, all three teams (All Star Boys, HAC Hawks and HAC Heat) have qualified to play at the regional finals in October. Dates and venues to be confirmed.
