Boarding

We had an amazing night on Monday celebrating Christmas in July. Olivia Biggs organised the themed dinner with some help from Amy Steer, Anna Spaull and Lizzie Duver. It was a great night and Rob and the kitchen staff cooked a delicious roast. The theme was red and green and the dining room was full of colour. There were prizes for those lucky enough to find tickets stuck to the bottom of their seats and a modified game of pass-the-parcel where there was a clue or a rule after each layer of wrapping. Clearly a lot of effort went into the night and from all of us a huge thanks to Olivia and Janine.

A small busload of boarders braved the cold for a Sunday drive and a visit to Wannon Falls. I will never forget my first look at its majestic beauty and I hope the new boarders enjoyed the drive and the sites.

Fergus Roberts, Lucy Roberts, Phoebe Russell, Juliet Page and Alyssa Hocking travelled with the debaters to ICCES Cross Country on Tuesday and ran extremely well on a tough course. Fergus was a little confused and got off the bus early with the debaters. He eventually realised his mistake but by that time was anchoring the debate as third for the affirmative. They won the debate convincingly.

Tara Sullivan and Alexa Balog were legitimate College debaters and said they really enjoyed the day and the experience.

It is wonderful to welcome Alannah Sander and Annabel Hetherington back from their time away. Alannah was dancing around Europe while Annabel got to visit Georgia whilst she is on her GAP year in England. We missed them and it’s great to have them back.

After getting back two terrific boarders we also lose one this week with Izzy Azzopardi departing for her 6 month exchange in Germany. Izzy will be missed by us all but we wish her safe travels and hope she has an amazing time. I’m sure she will greatly benefit and grow from such a wonderful opportunity and we look forward to hearing of her experiences when she returns at the start of 2019.

I hope everyone enjoys the Sheepvention long weekend. The Smiths will be spending some time on the College site over the two days so I hope to catch up with many of you. Despite the long weekend, the boarding houses will still be open and staffed.
