Principal's Report

I was impressed to read Neil MacLean, Kristen Waldron and Julia Winter Cooke’s wise recommendations in response to Susan McLean’s presentation last week.  Susan remains Australia’s foremost expert in the area of cyber safety and young people but it was her comments around ‘good parenting’ that captured my attention. ‘Children need a parent, not a friend’ she shared and then referred to the slide above. Great advice and I wish to acknowledge the College’s P&F Association’s generosity and support in enabling this educational forum to occur.

Please be aware that College has ‘zero tolerance’ towards smoking, consumption of alcohol, illicit drug use, possession of drug paraphernalia and/or abuse of prescription or over counter medication.  Sadly, after a detailed investigation, three Year 10 students have been suspended for breaching our school rules and their future enrolments are now under review.  The matter has been reported to the Police. On the positive, I commend the students who brought the matter to our attention and most especially their resolve to protect our school community.

A final reminder that I am very keen to seek a broad response to our Annual Parent Survey. Hence, I have extended the closing date to Monday 6 August 2018.  Your support to take five minutes to complete the survey would be greatly appreciated.
