ACC Netball Cup

State Netball Centre

Match report

On Wednesday, 19 August, eight Year 11 and 12 students headed to the State Netball Centre for the ACC Netball Cup. To kickstart the day we played two games outside and came away from both games with a convincing win. Having not trained, we were more than happy with our performance so far. Winning our pool games meant we were in the knockout round for the championship division.

In the quarter-final we came up against Newman College. An early intercept in the first half had us leading by 2 goals at the half-time buzzer. Excited to have a chance at the next stage, we knew we needed to convert all our centre passes and we would be through to the semi. We did just that and came away with a three-goal win. By the time the semi-final hit, we were feeling the fatigue but keeping our heads high as we kept going.

Swan Christian won the semi but I don't think it mattered that we lost, as we were just as excited to see how far we went against schools with high-end netball programs. There were smiles all day from us girls and from Mrs Mark. We ended the day happier than when we started and I think that is all we could have asked for. The positive attitudes the team had was what made the day all the more memorable.

Well done Canons - let's aim to take it a step further next year!
