Form - Judah

Put together by Tessa Schifferli

What is form?

Cornerstone consists of 4 houses: Judah, Naphtali, Benjamin and Ruben. For the first 10 minutes of each school day students gather in their houses. At Cornerstone in form all high school years are combined (years 7 through to 12). Each house has their own student leaders that are from the older years.

This article is focusing on Judah. The following questions have been answered by students from Judah.

What do you do in form each day?

“On Monday we talk about what we did on the weekend and hear the notices. On Tuesday we are all in together and we talk about what is coming up in the year and sometimes have a devotion if there is time. On Wednesdays we usually do something fun like a short game or something like that. On Thursdays we sign birthdays cards. And on Friday we have a period of form where we do fun activities with other houses.”

What do you think about having all the year groups in the same form?

Having year sevens to twelves in the same form gives you a chance to get to know others around the college. You also receive the chance to ask questions to the older students. Over the course of my time in high school we have run various mentoring programs. Once again this is an important opportunity for getting to know the older students.”

As a year seven I see some of the year 12s as scary people. But having them in form has helped to see that they aren’t that scary. We get to learn from all the people in our house and learn about them. It is great being with all different year groups and seeing how things are done in high school.

What is best about Judah?

“Here in Judah we focus on our sportsmanship. We may not have the largest number of outstanding athletes. Despite this we keep pushing through and encouraging others to the same. After the introduction of the team spirit award back in 2018 we have won the award several times over the course of the school carnivals.”

“The best thing about Judah is our wholehearted level of enthusiasm that we bring to everything we do. We work together as a team and motivate each other to work hard. Overall this makes us a better house.”

Favourite thing you do in form?

“Just talking to the people there. Hearing what they have to say and learning about them. Also telling them about me. How much fun we have together no matter what we are doing.”

- Clare Schifferli Yr 7

“I really enjoy the games and interactive activities that we do in form. It keeps the whole house involved and connected. It is also a great start to the day.
