Principal's Report

Support for Children

As we move through Remote Learning it is clear that 2020 has provided our students a new set of challenges to navigate and we as the adults who support them are also learning how to manage our emotions and feelings at this time and then how to manage and support of our children. One of the most important messages we can give our children is that a school is a safe place. If we reflect from the perspective of a young mind they have been told to stay away from school, then go back and now we are in the second, long, period of being told to stay away from school. As adults, we can rationalise that schools are not unsafe places, but Remote Learning has been mandated by the State Government as a measure to significantly reduce the number of people moving about the community in an effort to suppress Covid-19.

These are two very different ways to view the same experience. The message that we must be giving to our young people is the second idea that this is about the management of people and not being scared of school when we do return.

I am attaching a couple of resources, some for children, and some aimed at parents and I would encourage you to take some time and look over them as a family and have an open discussion about why children cannot be at school at the moment.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Just a quick reminder that bookings for Parent-Teacher interviews are currently open via Compass and this is one of our main reporting opportunities across the year.
