Principal's Report

Welcome back - again!

Term Four return

What can I say?  Other than, a huge welcome back to all students and families (even if it's only to the school gates at the moment).

I will be closely monitoring school restrictions and lifting any unnecessary ones, as soon as is possible and safe.

You have all been amazing - congratulations!

Our students are so resilient and the way you've all worked to support them and assist our school messaging is a credit to you all.

Don't Panic

As you would expect, all of us have many questions around progress and development of our children / students throughout this challenging year.

At Miners Rest Primary School we are committed to identifying and clarifying where each child is up to with literacy & numeracy development as well as social & emotional well-being.

We don't intend making up for the past in one term, but we will endeavour to capture the crucial next steps in your child's development, in all key areas.

Our relationships are re-igniting face-to-face and I am proud of everyone attacking teaching & learning again, back in a familiar fashion.

Our teams are delivering an extremely focused and pointed curriculum in a staged approach throughout the term.

It's important we don't overwhelm students, rather identify their needs and nail the strategies.  We have narrowed our focus areas, to build on existing knowledges.

Cancelled events

We are staying the path for term 4.  Any previously cancelled events will remain cancelled. We will not be 'catching up' over term 4, this would be to the detriment of learning.

I am supporting a very special experience for students late in the term for each year level, in lieu of the many missed events throughout the year.  I hope this will come to fruition for our students!

All events, are still pending COVID-19 restrictions and school guidelines.

I acknowledge the First People of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to the Elders of the past, present and emerging.
