How are you surviving home schooling?

I am surviving home schooling by  staying motivated.  Knowing that I am not alone really helps and having your loved ones around is really important, so you can feel loved and comforted.

What is the hardest part of home schooling?

The hardest part of home learning I think for me is not having that face to face interaction and even though we can see everyone on Teams, it’s different to seeing everyone in person. 

What is the best part of home schooling?

I like having the freedom to organise my own schedule.  I really like the experience of home learning as it’s different - something new to try. I enjoy being home with family & hot lunches are a treat!

What do you miss the most about being at school?

The thing I miss the most is probably is sort of like what I said before so not that face to face learning and socializing and I also especially miss the staff and students and having that lifestyle where you would get up and go to school and I just think it’s a lot different now.

In your role as School Captain in this unusual time have you been able to achieve some of the goals that you had?

Some goals of mine were to demonstrate good leadership qualities. I feel that I haven’t achieved that yet but it is quite hard during this times to do that so I have been trying my best.

How are you connecting with your friends?

I’m staying connected with my friends by a lot of Face-time calls and going for walks, skates, rides etc. with one friend. Also on the class calls everyday and our teacher has opened up some breakout rooms to go into during the day where we can talk to our friends and do our school work so that really helps as well.

What is something that you have enjoyed learning about this year?

Something I enjoyed learning about this year was learning about World War 2. It was very interesting to see what it was like living in those days and hearing some of the stories, which were fascinating.

Tell me something about yourself that I do not know?

Something about myself that I don’t think a lot of people know is that I actually really enjoy public speaking and I think it’s because I’m loud!  I do love standing up in front of people and talking to them.
