Wood Technology

Ian Marshall

Are you still using your wood technology project?

For years Monivae Wood Technology students have produced amazing projects, beautiful creations, wonderful enduring symbols of their hard work, enthusiasm and artistic talent. Jewellery boxes, gun cases, display cases, bedside cabinets, storage cabinets, trophy cabinets, equine equipment, bed heads, guitars, stomp boxes, reading lights, tables (so many tables), clocks, key racks, stools, dog kennels, dog beds, cheeseboards, sunchairs, outdoor bars, dartboard cabinets, book shelves …..and 13 years of Adirondack chairs, all shapes, sizes and multiple materials.

The creativity of the students is a constant motivation for the staff, and a great deal of this work has been displayed for the enjoyment of all at the school’s Art/Technology exhibitions (and even the Hamilton Art Gallery). Over the years much has been created and slipped out the back door into Dad/Mum’s car and gone home, and unfortunately not all documented. So we’re reaching out. Do you have an item made in the woodwork rooms and still in use? We’d love to see it. Please take a snap and send it in ....
