SENIOR SCHOOL

(Almost) WELCOME BACK! 

Tuesday 26th May is our first day for Year 11 & 12 students.  This week we undertook our very first VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY for our year 11’s and 12’s via TEAMS! The numbers who joined online were very positive and hopefully the key messages about safety, social responsibility and the changes to what being at school looks like – came across in our session.

The next VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY on TEAMS will be in Week 7 for year 10’s on Tuesday 26th May at 9am.

I would like to encourage parents and carers to join this session (similar to the ANZAC day ceremony), for an opportunity to hear the messages and to use the chat function and take part in a short survey / poll, to gauge some feedback about your remote teaching and learning experiences.

Year 10s will then return to full time onsite classes on Tuesday 9th June.  Those students studying a Unit 1-2 subject in Year 10 may attend classes onsite from Tuesday 26th May. Students will need to SIGN IN & SIGN OUT at the General Office or Senior Office.  If Year 10 students who attend for VCE classes cannot get to & from school during the day, provisions will be made for them to stay on site at school and engage in their other Year 10 subjects online.

Here is the most up to date information I have for VCE / VET & VCAL students.

· TAFE Gippsland & AGA have NOT yet started face to face learning / classes

• The VCE / VCAA  external exams will be conducted FROM 9th November - 2nd December

. ATAR SCORES can be calculated and VCE and VCAL students will receive their results before the end of 2020

• WORK PLACEMENT has NOT (officially) started for our VCAL / VET students.

• Your start date for Work Placement will depend on each workplace (MN is your contact person & I am working through the list of Work Placement arrangements

• The Year 11 (& 10) exam period has been changed to: Monday 15th – Friday 19th June – Week 10. The schedule will come out soon

• THE GAT – is now scheduled for 9th September 2020

• There have been some changes to subject study designs / SACs. VCE teachers have been engaging in Professional development in preparation for your return.

Please know that I understand & empathise with how difficult it is for students in the Senior School to live with and deal with such uncertainty in their final years of schooling, but you are doing an awesome job! You are not only the VERY FIRST EVER group of remote learning VCE students in our history, you have also proven that you are: independent, organised, RESILIENT, capable & resourceful. And imagine what a cool story it will be to tell one day!
