Ashgrove Virtual Music

Although ensembles cannot rehearse in person due to current the COVID-19 situation, some ensembles have continued to collaborate in a virtual environment via zoom. These projects have been a huge success and clearly demonstrate how the current pandemic has put a spotlight on music’s power to bring people together. Here are two examples featuring Wind Orchestra 1 and Chamber Strings. A big thank you to Ms Megan Harmston, Mrs Catherine Wasserman, the boys and parents for help in putting this together.

Concerts

Due to current Government restrictions on gatherings, we are unable to commence ensemble rehearsals in Week 6 as we had hoped. There is a possibility towards the end of term that we will run sectionals and/or small ensemble rehearsals (less than 20 students). Information regarding this will be emailed directly to students who are involved.

At this stage we are now working towards the recommencement of full ensemble rehearsals from Week 1, Term 3. Information regarding remaining concerts for 2020 will be communicated in the near future. Please continue to stay up to date via these weekly emails, the College Newsletter and College App.

QCMF & GRIPPS 2020

We are saddened to pass on the notice that both the 2020 GRIPPS Camp & Concert, as well as the 2020 Queensland Catholic College’s Music Festival have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Further information regarding the rescheduling of these events or participation in remote activities will be communicated via the usual channels (weekly timetable email, College App and College Newsletter).

Year 5 Musical

The Marist Music Department is excited to announce that The Year Five performance of ‘Pirates!’ will still go ahead, now as a recorded virtual performance that will be available to parents at a later date. All students need to have their costumes at school on the day of the performance.

DATE: Friday June 19 – Students will have an earlier Break 2 to have something to eat and drink then move to the Draney Theatre to get dressed into costumes. We will then move onto stage and film the Year 5 Musical, finishing at 3:00pm.

COSTUME: Details have been sent to all parents and carers in regards to this. We do not expect you to have to purchase costumes.
