Casey Inspire Leadership Forum

On Wednesday 3rd of May 2020, the year 5 and 6 Maramba Primary School leaders were invited to join the City of Casey online inspire leadership forum and learn all about resilience and leadership with Ellie Blackburn the current captain of the Western Bulldogs AFLW team and her hard journey to becoming a leader and Solli Raphael a 15 year old environmentalist, award-winning author and Australian Slam Poetry champion who explains what a true leader is.Firstly, I just want to say that the leadership forum was so fun and inspiring seeing these people talk about their lives and how they became such great leaders. Something I learned is that Solli Raphael had found his passion for writing when he was just 7 and continued living up to his passion for writing and during his journey he was learning all different types of ways of writing which has helped him to get to where he is now. Something I found interesting is that Ellie Blackburn didn’t always have the best of luck and had to use resilience during tough times. Something that I am planning on using to help me become a better leader is to always use to live up to my passion and being resilient when something doesn’t go the way I want it. Sakeena Safi 6G2

On the 3rd of June, the Year 5 and 6 leaders learned about what is leadership, why it's important, what makes a good leader... and so much more. I was really interested by an author called, Solli Raphael. I listened to some of his speech and I think he is really good at explaining about his thoughts and what's inside his mind. He is an awesome author. Now, I will set up a list that tells me what I need to do and tick off little boxes when I have finished and completed that goal. I think leadership is important because when you become a leader, you can learn how to be a good leader and how to use the 4'R s. Elvin 6G2

I was exhilarated when I heard that we were going to hear how others have learnt so we could become a better human being. What I learnt from the Leadership forum program was that how little you are you can still make a difference, you shouldn't be afraid of what others think, you should just go to the path you think is right. What I found interesting was that everyone has a story and it never starts easy, you have to earn your way up to being a good role model for others, you just have to believe in yourself and use the 4 R's. How I have use what I have learnt is share it with others without being afraid, not being afraid to share my knowledge nor be afraid to ask for help. Zahra 6K 😊

On the 3rd of June 2020, the city of Casey held a Youth Leadership Forum. It was for the years 5 and 6 student leaders that are in the city of Casey. The program was about responsibility and resilience towards leadership. One thing I learnt from the leadership forum was that some things will bring you down but as a leader you must continue to be persistent and keep on working hard if you put your mind to it. I thought that the Leadership Forum was a great way of showing school students how other leaders act and the responsibility and resilience they must show throughout their leadership career.  Shanae 6G2

I have learned about the different types of poetry and facts about the quest speakers that we interesting. Like Solli Raphael had written a book and won a poetry competition and Ellie Blackburn had won AFL games and there was lots of injuries in her team. Something I found interesting was the African dance and singing because we do not have a lot of that traditional dance in Australia and it was amazing watching them. I will use the tips to help me become a better leader by finding other leaders and working with my peers. I could also be a team player and help everyone. Samaah 6K4

Something I learned is that a leader you can ask for help when needed and not to be scared to ask for help because everybody needs help some days. Leadership is important because it is a once or twice in a life time opportunity to be a leader in primary school. Leadership is all about showing resilience, respect, responsibility and relationships not only at school but when you go on camps, excursions or incursions at school. How I am going to improve my leadership skills is always asking for help when I need it. How I can use leadership skills is at my gymnastics lesson by encouraging younger people who want to become gymnasts and say come on you can do it, don't give up or follow your dreams. Yes I would like to become a leader because leaders are great role models not only to family and friends but to people who they have never met. Olivia 6G2

Hi I’m Leen, and something that I learned from the leadership forum experience is that the little things that inspire me, affect others in bigger or smaller ways depending on how we show it. I found that the different ways people inspire others is interesting because some people think inspiration is a let down because it might not be the inspiration that really goes deep into the thing that you have the inspiration in. I think using what I learned will make me a better leader if I understand and acknowledge it I could unlock my true power and be an inspiration to other’s and have an inspiration of my own which I’m currently searching for. Today the year 5 and 6 leaders got to watch video from the city of Casey and get to hear amazing story's on how Ellie Blackburn and Solli Rapaphael we’re resilient and how they got to were they are now. It was an amazing experience and I learnt to always be resilient and try out new things. They also told as their 3 steps if you want to become a journalist or a footy player witch was very cool. Hi, I'm Manal and something that I learned from this amazing experience is that sometimes things that seem normal can inspire others in great ways! Something I found interesting is how well something normal can inspire young leaders, which leads to something I learned! The City Of Casey Leadership Forum will help me improve as a leader as it gave me inspiration and facts from experienced young leader that will therefore help me as a young leader. Manal 6K4

Hi guys my name is Heela and today my peers and I watched videos of people on how to improve on to become a better leader. I learned on being more resilience and more confident person in life because you will achieve anything in life. What I found interesting was that it doesn't matter what age you have to become famous like Solli's book sounded amazing he could accomplish everything. I will use these strategies by become a more resilience person in life and I will always try to do my personal best in life to become a better leader. Heela 6K4

Today we had the inspire ship leadership forum, I think it was very inspiring and fun. Something I learnt was to always keep going even when things are tough. What I found interesting is that the people sharing keep going when things were hard. When the people that were sharing said all of this happen but I still keep going made me tell myself to never give up. I think a good leader is who inspires, works well with people, leaders who are passionate and leaders that are fun to work with. Grace 6K4

Hi I'm Angel and I am a year 6. Something I learned from the leadership forum is that you can be a leader in any way, E.g.; you can be a leader at home and at school. When you're at home you can be positive and you can teach your siblings how to be a leader or you can teach your siblings how to share positive messages. When at school you can teach the younger students how to be a positive person, when they have hard work they can be positive and say I can't do this yet but I will give it a go. Something I found interesting is that Solli keeps journals everywhere in his house, he has one in his car and he has one in his bag and he has lot's in his house. The reason why he has journals everywhere in his house is because whenever he has an idea he does not want to forget it so he just writes it down in the journal that he can find. The reason why I think being a leader is important is because you can learn new skills you can discover your skills that you have not discovered yet. Another reason is because you can gain more teamwork skills and you can gain knowledge from being a leader.  Angel 6K4

After watching three amazing leadership videos, I know what a phenomenal leader does. A phenomenal leader has resilience, good mindset, and respect. I’ve also learnt that leadership is important because if you are a leader everyone trusts you and expects you to be a good role model. It is also important because you are a leader of something and people always watch your actions. I also know, and learnt, that a good leader shows respect for someone and someone else’s belongings, does what they are told and is an amazing role model and is trustworthy. As I am Oatlands House Captain I want to improve my confidence and resilience. For me to help my skills I will just need to be more careful of what I hold because I might drop it and then they won’t trust me to hold anything. After watching those videos I am extremely happy that I am a leader, because it is very fun and people trust you and you have a big responsibility which is good. Alyssa 6G2

I have learned being a leader is something that is special that no one has like being unique and have a really good skill. I found interesting that nearly all of the leader had a good future and have better life. I will try to not be the same leader for next year in high school but I will accomplish my mistakes that I did. Zulqi 6G2
