Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Queen’s Birthday Holiday – Monday 8th June

This Monday is Victoria’s public holiday for the Queen’s Birthday. I hope you all have a great long weekend.

Safety First - Drop Off and Pick Up

Thank you to our amazing community for your thoughtfulness and patience during these busy times. It certainly takes a community effort to ensure our students who our most precious community and family members are safe at all times during drop-off and pick-up.

I know that our staff are doing an amazing job at releasing students when they feel and know it is safe to do so. While we are familiar with the faces of mums, dads, and carers, knowing the cars families drive is something new. We all have a duty of care and innate responsibility to ensure your children and our students’ safety is our number one priority.

Next week, with Years 3 to 6 returning the patience, thoughtfulness and swiftness of everyone will be even more important as the staggered drop-off and pick-up times come into effect.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Year 3 – 6 Return to School

Next Tuesday, we are looking forward to welcoming back our Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Below are just a few of the important things to remember.

The school grounds are closed to all parents, carers and families between 8:00am and 4pm each day. Students are not permitted to be on the school site before 8:45am and between end of day dismissal and 4pm each day. This includes all high school students from Fountain Gate Secondary College.

Attendance

  • If a student is unwell with mild cold/flu-like symptoms, elevated temperature or a respiratory illness, they must remain at home until their symptoms resolve and seek medical advice.
  • Students who are late must go straight to the administration office through the main gate for a late pass as normal. Parents and carers must not come onto the school site and remain at the entrance gate.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

  • Students in Y3, 4, 5 or 6 who DO HAVE a younger sibling must:
    • Enter and exit the school grounds with their younger sibling at their designated drop off / pick up points and times.
    • Once on-site the older siblings will go immediately to their own classroom.
  • Students in Y3, 4, 5 or 6 who DO NOT have a younger sibling must:
    • Enter and exit the school grounds at their designated drop off / pick up points and times.

New Look School Assembly Arrangements

To ensure we are able to continue to meet as a whole school to celebrate student achievements and keep connected as a community, while adhering to social distancing measures our School assemblies will be held via WebEx from classrooms. This will remain in place until we have further guidance from DET.

Our first WebEx assembly will start on Friday 12th June. To begin with, only parents of students receiving awards will be invited to attend the assembly via WebEx. This will enable us to check that the system and process holds up. Once we are confident of this assemblies will be open to all Maramba families.

School Canteen Closed

The school council have agreed that in the best interests of health and hygiene the school canteen will remain closed for Term 2. This will be revised at our next meeting.

Walk to School Program Survey Winner

Fantastic news that Maramba Primary School, was the winner of a $2,000 Rebel Sports voucher to put towards sports equipment for our school!

Mrs Belinda Ladouceur as the Sustainability leader entered us for the draw after completing the voluntary program survey, providing feedback about their experiences of Walk to School.

Well done, Mrs Ladouceur!

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
