The Arts

I am very much looking forward to the beginning of a return to school for students from next week.
Music has been something I have really enjoyed accessing and relaxing with during my time of working at home and I know some students have also been enjoying listening to music as they work on remote learning tasks.
I have been watching ‘High Fidelity’ (adapted from the book of the same name by Nick Hornby: MA rated) on ABC iView. I have loved watching the characters knowledge and passion for music and how it soundtracks, describes and enhances their lives…
Feel free to send me your top 5 list (as they do on ‘High Fidelity’) SONGS TO LISTEN TO IN ISOLATION.
I have also been learning to play the ukulele and have benefitted from being able to work on my songs throughout the day. The Foundations will be learning how to play the ‘uke’ in their music classes from next week.
The Department of Education and Training has released some fantastic resources for self-directed learning at home in the arts (drama, dance, music and visual arts.)
Visit:
https://fuse.education.vic.gov.au/
Search ‘the arts self-directed’ and you will find activities for primary and secondary students.
There have been some really dedicated primary visual arts students who have been sending fabulous photos of their creations each week.
VCE Studio Arts students are busily planning, preparing and beginning to work on their major art pieces for the semester and I look forward to sharing their progress with you in the next newsletter.
Photography elective students are creating a series of portraits. They have worked on their ideas and planning this week and will be having their photoshoots next week. There is such diversity in their ideas for this project and I can’t wait to see the results!
Visual Arts Elective students have had the choice to complete set tasks or to follow their own creativity and produce a series of drawings in their visual diaries. I also look forward to sharing their work with you when they return to school.
‘The Arts Award’ for this week definitely goes to the Year 7 class who have been so keen to try out a huge range of visual arts skills and techniques during remote learning. These curious students ask questions to improve their work and have regularly sent photos of their work in. Well done Year 7!!!
