Year 12 External VCE Exams – Date Range Published
In a year that has seen constant change and upheaval, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, we are hopefully about to come out the other side, having learned a plethora of new skills throughout this challenging time.
While it would be fair to say that some of us have managed these changes better than others, the fact remains that things have kept moving on and we have learned to be adaptable to these necessary modifications in our lives and deal with them in the best way that we can.
Last night (Thursday 21st May), it was announced that external written exams have been brought forward from their modified timeline of December, instead beginning the week of Monday 9th November. They will be completed by the 2nd December and results will be published to students before the end of 2020. We don’t have exact dates for individual exams as yet; these are scheduled to be out before the end of term.
While this is not the initial extra length of time Year 12 VCE teachers had originally thought we would have, with cuts and changes to study designs by VCAA, it will mean that our programs are modified to fit and we will adapt to this adjustment too. We have – as we always do – your best interests at heart, as our students, as this is your future. Embrace this change, as we have endeavoured to embrace the others that have been thrown our way this year and keep pushing through – the end point is now in sight and we will work hard with you to get there together.

Year 11 “Dress-up Friday”
Throughout our time of remote learning, the majority of the Year 11 VCE English class have been absolute stars at being online for WebEx and ready to learn during their timetabled classes.
As a bit of fun, for what we are all hoping will be our last ever WebEx class, we decided to dress up and have a bit of fun, while still learning (of course!). It was fun for some of us to get involved and there were some fantastic dress ups – everything from pyjamas to the best footy supporter gear. Well done team!
Mrs Altmann is very much looking forward to seeing everyone back in class next week!

Advancing themselves
Advance students have had a bit of time on their hands whilst having to work from home so we’ve had to be a bit inventive in some of the work we are doing. Part of the mantra of being in the Advance class is to learn how we can serve our community. Generally we do it by volunteering, meals on wheels, helping the local show or race club, - etc. So what could we do that involved staying at home? Yes the students could write a letter to the residents of the hostel, who would be doing it a bit tough at the moment. So with a dozen or so dot points to work off, that’s exactly what they did. Amongst other things they are being encouraged to help around the house.

Year 8 Medieval History
Over the last two and a half weeks, students in Year 8 Medieval History have been researching different types of castles that existed during the middle ages in Europe.
Students were required to create their own version of one of these castles using materials they had in their home or they could complete the activity on Minecraft Education.
As you can see, students did a fantastic job, and all made sure they included historical elements in their designs. Well done to all students for their incredible work!
