 The Dream Tree

With our school performance of ‘The Dream Tree’ written by Eugenia Kozlevcar approaching on July 30th and 31st, we put out a competition for students to design a logo to advertise the play. We received many entries which displayed the talent of our art students across the school. Students were asked to design a logo featuring the title ‘The Dream Tree’ and it had to in some way reflect Australian culture.

Synopsis of the play:

In a paddock in the outback there is a dream tree. Its roots reach deep anchoring it to the legends of the ancient past. Its branches reach far up into the sky gathering the innocent dreams and imaginings of the pure of heart. From this tree the spirits of creativity and invention soar out far and wide sharing its inspiration and hope with the world.  But the tree is in trouble. A cranky witch has cast an evil spell and the spirits who have been brought to life by the tree look to the human world for help.  It’s up to Joe, a country boy, Kim, his spoilt cousin from the city, Lilly- Pilly the tree spirit and Rocco the recycler to save the day.

Winners of the Logo competition:

First place: Karl

Second Place: Amirah

Third Place:  Taylah

Prizes will be awarded to the top three entrants once school returns after the holidays.

Congratulations to all other entries!

Congratulations to Karl 2R3 who won first place in ‘The Dream Tree’ competition and a $100 Office works voucher.

After hearing from a teacher, I thought it would be a great idea to create a logo design for the college's production 'The Dream Tree.' Through designing the logo, I was able to refine my skills in communication design, which has helped greatly in my Visual communication studies. This opportunity has definitely given me plenty of experience, and I would recommend everyone to try any sort of competition in the future as you might be able to learn something new (and win some prizes). Congratulations to all the other entrants as well! There were some really great designs there too.
