PRAYER FOR MIGRANTS, REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS

Our prayer this week is in light of Refugee Week.  We are called to action and can assist through our donations for the College Winter Appeal which continues until Thursday 25 June.

Prayer for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers

God, no one is a stranger to you

And no one is ever far from your loving care.

In your kindness watch over migrants, refugees and asylum seekers,

Those separated from their loved ones,

Those who are lost

And those who have been exiled from their homes.

Bring them safely to the place where they long to be,

And help us always to show your kindness to strangers

And those in need.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Who too was a refugee and migrant

Who travelled to another land

Searching for a home.

Amen

2020 WINTER APPEAL - WE NEED BLANKETS

Thank you to all the families who have sent in donations of non-perishable food. This is going well and we are still collecting these. We really need blankets for the homeless appeal for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Please send them along with your son.

COVID-19 – CONTINUED VIGILANCE AT SCHOOL

The College continues to maintain clear protocols regarding COVID-19 and the emphasis remains on sanitising, washing hands, keeping good distances and if students are unwell they should stay at home.

There will be no full School Assemblies this term and no visitors to the school. We will review this in Term 3.

At Sports training there are also clear protocols in place as there are in the Gym. Boxercise will begin again but also with the need to keep equipment clean, good hygiene and sanitising.

ISA WINTER SEASON TERM 3

The good news is that the ISA have decided that a 7 week Winter season will commence next term for Tennis, Football and Rugby. The boys are training and this is important to be able to play next term. All these details are subject to change if Government regulations are amended.

The key points agreed by ISA are:

  • Season commences 25 July and ends 5 September. Draws to be issued next week.
  • No competition table will be kept but the scores of each game will be recorded. The emphasis is on participation, good exercise and sportsmanship.
  • 25 July - Round 1 may be a training day or game to be determined by the schools. NO SPECTATORS WILL BE PERMITTED FOR ROUND 1.
  • 1 August - Round 2 – ONLY 1 SPECTATOR PER PLAYER WILL BE PERMITTED TO GAMES.
  • A register of all players, officials and parents to be kept for all games to enable contact tracing in the event of a positive COVID test.
  • A strict set of protocols will be put in place regarding hygiene. This will be published to schools in the next week.
  • Players arrive dressed in sports gear and ready for games. Limited access to change rooms. Students arrive, play, leave.
  • No canteen, BBQs, after-match gatherings.
  • Students have their own water bottle, etc. No sharing of equipment.

There are other protocols but you will understand the need here to maintain good COVID-19 hygiene practices. These protocols will be published by the ISA early next week and communicated to you as soon as we have them.

There will be a short Athletics season dovetailing with the end of the Winter season.

The Summer Sports will not commence training until the conclusion of the Winter season.

The Junior School Sporting Association, IPSHA, is yet to clarify its season and it is expected to be known very soon. Mr Long and Mr McBrearty will share details with the Junior School as soon as they are known.

HOLIDAY SPORTS CLINICS

In order to prepare for the Winter season, the College has approved some Football and Rugby Clinics to be held at Oxford Falls during the holidays.

The First XI Football and First XV Rugby will also play a trial match under strict COVID-19 protocols.

No parents or spectators are permitted at these clinics or matches.

More details can be found in the Senior School Sport and Extracurricular Activities section.
